Stephen Shore
I think this is a successful photograph because i like the composition. i his its interesting how the perspective of the lines on the window bring your eye into the photograph. the verticals from the chair, lamp, and legs from the table brings your eye up to the tv. i like Shore's use of color in this photograph. The room and the furniture in the room are neutral, which makes the blue pop out. The blue from the tv is balanced from the blue jeans and the blue tag on the suitcase.

Helen Levitt

I like this photograph because of the use of color. i think its interesting how everything around the subject is gray, but the girl has colorful clothing. it brings your eye into the photograph, keeping her the main focus.

Alec Soth

I like Soth's use of scale in this photograph. Making the bus small in the middle of the frame gives the feeling of the bus being stranded and that it is being engulfed by the land. the color of the bus complements the sky, and makes the bus stand out more.

this photograph stood out to me because even though there is a lot of objects in this photograph, the man is still the main focus. the pops of red on the table, pillows, phone, and cushions are framing the man, which also brings your eye into the photograph. i am also interested in this photograph because i am want to see what is in the room, and how it could relate to the figure in the photograph.

This photograph really interests me because it seems like the women in the photo were not ready, and slightly awkward, but it was thought out in the photographer's mind, which makes me think differently from it being just a snapshot. what makes me think it was thought out, is how he chose his subjects, and their placement in the frame. they are the only faces you can see clearly, they are both wearing black, and the background is lighter, which makes them stand out. everything around them is blurred, but the two women are the most in focus.

I chose this photograph because i really like to be experimental with my photography. i like the degree of which Sommer chose to blur the figure, because you can still see that the subject is of a figure, but the lines become soft, and the tones turn into shapes.

This photograph caught my eye because of the figures. i like that the observer can see two different views of the couple. the plates and cups on the table contrast with the dark table, and the clothes theyre wearing. i think that it keeps the bottom of the photograph balanced, so that its not too dark.
